Divine experience in Human body

It is fascinating to consider that more people may be experiencing spiritual awakenings or having an experience with divine that may be inexplicable, at least logically. They may be trying to make sense of what they think they experienced. And if you’re one of them, or are hoping to be one, this post is for you.

While a complete awakening leaves hardly any questions unanswered in the long term, a divine experience on the other hand may leave us puzzled sometimes, or at least in awe, and seek understanding in what can feel like a deeply personal yet universal journey. When it comes to it, each experience is unique, shaped by individual perspectives and life paths. Yet common themes do exist, like feelings of profound love, clarity, and a sense of interconnectedness with all life.

If you’re navigating this process, it can help to connect with others, share stories, and gain insights into what you’re feeling. With so many experiencing similar transformations, it might be helpful to remember that while your path is unique, you’re not alone.

No one can describe what an awakening 'will' feel like for 'you' specifically. Period. Because what you see or feel while you still have your human body, you only will see a 'translation' basically inevitably filtered through the limits of your body, mind and emotional equity through multiple lives. But that is not to say that those limits will not be transcended, yet still in ways that are individual to you. No amount of explanation, if generalized, could be sufficient. Yet, across thousands of years, common threads have emerged in spiritual experiences worldwide. Many more recently, with science and social media bringing such things to surface, that otherwise used to be more local.

These common threads can include profound emotions and sensations that impact your being. Your entire existence. There are patterns of (rather inexplicable) initial symptoms  that will fill you with volumes of emotions that you never felt before. While I will not go into details, I will attempt to provide some from my personal spiritual experiences, and some through listening to several first-hand stories from others.

A word of caution though. If you’ve had a divine experience, avoid looking for “evidence” or goal of miraculous abilities or social/spiritual 'status' - it can be a distractor from your pursuit of truth and honestly a slippery slope. The search for such things often stems from ego and leads back to the separation we might long to transcend in the first place. Patanjali gives that word of caution rather bluntly in his Vibhuti Pada, Yoga Sutra 3.37/3.38 ते समाधवुपसर्गाव्युत्थाने सिद्धयः ॥३८॥

So, firstly, if you did have a spiritual experience or you think you did, and are new to it, first thing to NOT do is find the siddhi evidential 'needle' in the proverbial haystack of your divine experience. Or worse, instead of sharing with compassion, you display it for the sole purpose of gaining social status. That path, like all other egoic paths, leads back to where you, as a divine soul, probably don't wanna go anymore after that experience.

And secondly, remember, that Yoga is not just the way of life, it is the practice of unity and readiness to help prepare our body, mind and soul for that actual divine union (not just experience). There are no hard prerequisites for these experiences, yet preparing mind, body, and spirit can enrich the journey! And its best when the panchakoshas are cooked well in the tapas of some/ any spiritual practices.

In this post, I’ll focus on some common elements within the experience of awakening itself. I’ll leave post-awakening symptoms for another post, as they’re quite different and another chapter in a book. Ultimately, the path isn’t about the experience alone, but about divine union.

Common Themes in Divine Experiences

Ok, back to the experience itself. The way mind experiences it, as mentioned, is quite subjective. And it differs not only for each person, it is different at different times.

Our physicality is incapable of comprehending it fully. You would release streams of tears for hours with inexplicable loving joy overflowing from each atom of your being. Limits of physical senses are exceeded. Beautiful beyond expectations and explanations. Words, however beautifully chosen, cannot capture these experiences, they dilute it and fall short. Event itself transcends all sensory experiences!

One of them is Kundalini awakening

However, a common thread is an overwhelming feeling of unconditional love and light and it may translate for you as:

  • A blinding light from a thousand suns, as if you were looking directly into a Quasar up close.
  • A light ray entering the brow point, typically given by your divine personification.
  • A feeling of being the eye of the universe, limitless, unbound, all seeing
  • An infinite dynamic fractal of self posing as the universe and vice versa
  • Cosmic experience of the entire universe being only emptiness of space, with absolutely nothing at all, disorienting, still feeling extremely safe, empowered and unconditionally loved, and empowered to create any cosmic form. Also feeling them to be same as self, without differentiation.
  • Complete emptiness but with an eight (or more) limbed being, a feeling of being an infant with mother
  • A view from a billion eyes from billion chosen perspectives, as if each grain of sand or dirt on earth and each molecule were your eyes and you could chose which eye to use for your perspective. But I was as if I could for example, choose a stomata of any any leaf on any tree or eyes of any being on any planet in the universe, to use it as an my eye, to observe life around me. (This is more profound than can be written in words).
  • A living breathing multiverse with each inhale translating as a cycle of big bang and big crunch, with each breath cycle feeling like 147 billion years (for me) - प्राणस्येदं वशे सर्वं त्रिदिवे यत्प्रतिष्ठितम्। मातेव पुत्रान्रक्शस्व श्रीश्च प्रज्ञां च विधेहि न इति (6.2.13, Prashnopanishad) rendered in full 4K immersive 5D experience in one timeless moment.
  • An infinite tree of life where each soul was the fruit of that tree, interconnected, inter-nourished and all knowing.
  • Coldness flowing down the spine and Warm/ Hot liquid rising up the spine with sensations beyond description and usually along with convulsions/ vibrations. (More specific to Kundalini rising)
  • Motherly existence, with water in some form. Dream like or getting a bath as a child from 'the mother', in overflowing loving body of water, while lulled asleep, but still awake
  • A bluish purple light with same color cloud around it, coming closer and closer to you until it engulfs you and you see one really beautiful crystalline bright blue eye looking straight at you and a feeling of dissolving in the eye. Some see the same but two eyes.
  • Darshan of your divine personification. If you lean towards one or two personified representations of divine, you will 'see' them. (Jaaki rahi bhavana jaisi..). They may talk to you. And it is the most beautiful transcendental experience. Tears probably wont stop. I saw Tirupati form of Krishna, except that the form was huge (I was smaller than his Toe nail), pure black (कृष्ण) and He was wearing the brightest possible white dhoti as if it was made with thread of galaxies and diamonds..
  • And one of the most common ones - A feeling of thousand petal lotus growing out of your sahasrar chakra, upwards, into infinity...
True meaning of तामेव विदधाम्यहम् (Gita7.21), Om tat sat (Gita 17.23), and Soham (Isha Upanishad 16) emerges and is experienced! True realization of अहं ब्रह्मास्मि (Aham Brahmasmi, 1.4.10,  Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10) comes to light and passes through you! That experience is when separation is dissolved, duality of observer & observed disappears and sensory observation is needless, when all ocean is in a drop, when entire cosmos is in a grain of sand, when when all particles are waves and all waves are energies and all energies merged and the infinite is within the heart. Aham brahmasmi ceases to just be words on paper!

These themes are incredibly overwhelming and even then give only a glimpse of breadth of spiritual experience a human body can have. Additionally the experience is also accompanied by a number of sustained symptoms that may happen before or/and after. But they are too many to enumerate. I will list common ones anyway towards the end. BTW, did I mention that whole idea of Yoga (verb-Yuj, unify) is to prepare the physical body and mind to be able to handle the divine union? It is the path of the divine union. And on the path that includes several lifestyle practices that are on the ground practical formulae!  Poses are < 1% of Yoga.

On that divine path, you will have many divine experiences! Dont park your car at the very first station, or worse, get an engine leak with spiritual ego! When your vibe is up, make great things happen instead, compassionately for beings around you!

The gist of above is that a Yogi sees themselves in all beings and all in them equanimously (6.29). Such knowledge of imperishable pervasive undivided compassionate existence is the path of supreme goodness (18.20)! This has layers and layers of depth and each experience opens up a new meaning for it!!

BTW, I am also seeking if anyone here sees 'repeating numbers’, and knows what 1111 means. If you do, you will be amazed to know which verse is 11:11. (with 11:10).

It was the vision of his divine universal form. The most awe-inspiring प्रसंग in entire Gita!

Those who have experienced it, possibly can begin to truly comprehend 11.10 to 11.13 and Arjun’s reaction from 11.15 through 11.33. Chapter 11 gives a ‘sneak peak’ of that. It is dedicated to such transcendence, and is truly awe inspiring. But a direct experience is eye opening. If anyone of you also had similar experiences, I with recommend to follow य इदं परमं गुह्यं मद्भ‍क्तेष्वभिधास्यति । भक्तिं मयि परां कृत्वा मामेवैष्यत्यसंशय: (18.68) and kindly share your learnings!!

Any way, as promised before, I will also write about the common symptoms that are sustained beyond the event of divine experience. Some that I experience regularly or observed before in direct discussions with others are visions, super heightened senses and sensitivity, empathy, compassion, love, abundance flow, stronger intuitions or claires*, children, birds & animals following you or come to you, you may have an inexplicable 'presence' that others mention about, short but deeper sleep, meditations like never before, deeper dreams and messages, lucid dreams, channeling, angel connections, plants bloom and flourish around you, you are full of life energy, you have a knowing of knowing but not how, knowledge of past lives and many more to list!! But the best of all is the feeling of oneness with all that is and the love that comes with it. After all, with a true spiritual experience you realize that you are all and all is one and love is the common glue.

In summary, each person's spiritual experience (or even awakening) is unique, yet resonates with common threads. Profundity of these experiences and their ineffable nature are just the start. I invite you to connect deeply with your own journeys without rigid expectations. And yes, watch out for egoic traps! Don't do it for the sake of experience! Do it for the sake of union with divine.

Wishing you unlimited abundance of health, wealth, wisdom, luck and love! And remember, in essence, as someone else also said, you only 'think' you are having a divine experience in a human being. But the truth is that you are a divine being, and you've been having a human experience so far!

Love and light,

Your Lightworker 🙏🏻❤️
